i have a new blog

… it’s called World’s Worst Aquarist and there you will my adventures in fish-keeping, such as they are.

just to give you an indication of how it’s been going, the latest post is called ‘and then there were six’ … *sigh*.

so, i have fish

eight male guppies to be precise … 2 blue, 2 green, 2 purple with orange tails, one orange and one black.

i’ve done everything by the book so far. the water quality is spot on. healthy plants, groovy furniture, heater, thermometer, airstones, premium tucker.

but one of the greens is ailing … fin rot. it ain’t ammonia burn, cos those levels are perfect, so it must be bacterial. so back to the pet store tomorrow for some antibacterial treatment. woohoo.

i have a terrible record with fish, so my hopes aren’t high. but i’ve never done it by the book before either, so i remain enthusiastic.

pray for these poor little fishies.

One fish tank, minus fish

Went out and got myself an AR-620, if anyone’s interested. 90 litres. Filter and lights built in. Gravel, furniture, heater, thermometer, plants, chemicals, test kit, cleaning scrubber.

It was a bit of a mission but i got it set up and with any luck i can get some swimmers in on monday or tuesday.

Still need a coupla airstones and a pump and a gravel vac. Already spent, like, $700, so it would be really good if i could keep the little fuckers alive for a bit.

We shall see.

off to buy a fish tank and all the gubbins

yes, i know i said i couldnt be arsed. but today … i can, apparently. much retail therapy ahead.
